Create an Adapt Element

An Adapt element is a feature and contains information regarding operation parameters, derived conditions, and analyses.

When sculpting the input geometry, only derived conditions are dynamically re-computed, in case of a flange, for example, the continuity at the connecting edge.

Before you begin: Open a 3DShape containing a surface.

  1. Create a flange surface in Adapt mode and exit the OmniSurf command with OK.
A feature Flange Surface.x is added to the tree.
  2. In the Sculpt panel, select Controls and Continuities .
In the work area, the G0 continuity label is displayed at the transition flange - input surface.

  3. Modify the control point row at the connecting edge of the input surface.
G0 continuity is kept, flange length and angle are modified.

Nothing is recomputed as long as the local (implicit) constraint, in this case the continuity, is kept. If the continuity is not kept when modifying the geometry, only the continuity is restored but no modified feature parameters.
  4. Clear Controls and double-click the flange surface.
The feature parameters length and angle are recomputed and the OmniSurf panel opens.

You can modify the parameters of the flange surface.

  5. Click OK to confirm the modification and close the OmniSurf panel.
