Changing the Body

You can change the human body.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: From the Human section of the action bar, click Edit Human to open the panel.

Change the Body Proportions

You can change the body proportions.

You can also quickly scale a human model. This feature is useful when you need to work with small or large humans.

  1. In the panel, click Identity.
  2. Under Edit proportions, do one of the following:
    • Select a predefined body shape.
      Note: This feature is only available for first-generation human models.


    • Click Edit in 3D, and drag any node of the skeleton in the 3D area to change the body shape.
      Note: Each blue node represents a bone.


  3. To scale a human, enter a scale factor.

    Below are some examples of scaling. For example, scaling can be useful if you need to 3D print a human model.

    Scale Factor: 1 (Default) Scale Factor: 0.5 Scale Factor: 1.5






Change the Body Proportions of a Generative Human

You can change the body proportions of a generative human. You can also change the height and weight of a generative human.

  1. In the panel, click Identity.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To blend body shapes, click anywhere on the circle.

    • To change the gender, see Changing the Age and Gender (Generative Human).
    • To sculpt the body shape, move the sliders or enter a value.
      Option Description
      Thinness Defines the thinness of the human.
      Standard Defines the average human body shape for a given age.
      Muscle Defines the muscle mass of the human.
      Fat Defines the amount of body fat.
    • To change the height or weight, enter a value in the Height or Weight boxes.
      Note: The units are the ones you defined in the user's preferences (Me > Preferences > Common Preferences > Parameters, Measure, and Units > Units > Units Display: Length or Mass).

Change Body Parts

You can change the appearance of the body parts. For example, you can change the shape of the hands.

  1. In the panel, click Combine.
  2. From the body view, select the body part you want to change (for example the left hand).

    Tip: You can also directly select the body part on the human in the work area.

  3. In the list, select a new shape for your body part.

    If needed, click + to access further options.

    The new shape is applied to the body.

  4. Optional: Click Symmetry to apply your modifications simultaneously to symmetrical body parts. Click again to deactivate the body symmetry and to apply your modifications only to the selected part.
