Before you begin: Create
a 3D shape containing a subdivision surface.
From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Modification.
From the Tools Palette, click Translation.
Click the surface to position the handles depending
on the pointer position.
Note:
You are able to perform translations along
three directions or three planes (defined by the directions).
Optional: Move the pointer to highlight the desired axis or
plane.
Select the elements to be translated and drag the pointer.
You can see the start and end points and the value of displacement along with its unit are
displayed. Thus you have complete control on the distance to be translated.
Note:
The
displacement value is not displayed if you have selected No Show
Coord.
Tips:
You can snap elements onto a vertex during the manipulation:
Press Shift to translate the selected elements along the translation direction onto the vertex that is the closest to the pointer.
Press Ctrl to translate the selected elements exactly onto the vertex.
Release the pointer when you are satisfied with
the new position of the surface.
