Exporting a Mesh

You can export subdivision surfaces and meshes from the Imagine & Shape app to another software.

  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Export Subdivision Meshes .
  2. From the Tools Palette, click one of the following:
    OptionDescription
Flip Y up and Z up Flips Y and Z up.

Export Color Exports the color in an .mtl file associated to a subdivision surface.
Export Material Exports the material in an .mtl file associated to a subdivision surface.

Create Single obj File Creates a single file containing all meshes. If not selected, a file for each mesh will be created.
    Apply (Enter) Validates the command.
  3. Select one or more subdivision surfaces.

You can also select a symmetry, a net, or an instantiation surface.

  4. Click Apply (Enter) .
For each subdivision surface, three files are created:
    • A summary file of the export.
    • For each selected mesh, an obj file containing the coordinates of all the vertices of the mesh, and for each face of the mesh, the list of the vertex indices in the same mesh.
    • An mtl file containing the parameters of the color or material applied to each selected feature.
