Scaling a Curve

You can scale a curve along one or more axes.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing a curve.

Scale a Curve Along one Axis

You can scale a curve along one axis.

  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Modification .
  2. Select the curve.
  3. From the Tools Palette, click Translation , click Transformations and then click Affinity .
A 3D box appears around the selection.
  4. Click the curve to position the handles depending on the pointer's position.
  5. Move the pointer to highlight the desired axis and then release the pointer when you are satisfied with the new position of the surface.
  6. Drag and move the pointer to affine the elements.

  7. Release the pointer when you are satisfied with the new position of the surface.

Scale a Curve Along two Axes

You can scale a curve along two axes.

  1. Perform steps 1 to 4 as described above.
  2. Select the arc of circle.
  3. Drag and move the pointer to affine the elements.

  4. Release the pointer when you are satisfied with the new position of the surface.

Scale a Curve Along three Axes

You can scale a curve along three axes.

  1. Perform steps 1 to 4 as described above.
  2. Move the pointer to highlight the desired axis.
  3. Press Ctrl and then drag and move the pointer to affine the elements.
Tip: You can select any axis or handle: the scaling will still be performed along the three axes.

  4. Release the pointer when you are satisfied with the new position of the surface.
