DS Installer

Welcome to the DS Installer Guide. This guide explains what the DS Installer is and how to use it for installing 3DEXPERIENCE platform apps.

This page discusses:

What Is the DS Installer?

The DS Installer is a set of installation tools used for installing server and client apps. The DS Installer is delivered on a separate media which you may or may not need to use, depending on the app you are installing.

Embedded or Not Embedded?

Depending on the apps you are installing, the DS Installer core files may or may not already be embedded in the app installation media. The procedure for installing your app varies, based on whether the installation media contains the DS Installer core files or not.

For example, the 3D Indexing Server installation media contains the DS Installer core files, so you perform the installation procedure without requiring the separate DS Installer media.

However, if you are installing certain other apps, you may require the separate DS Installer media because the DS Installer core files are not present on the app media. In this case, you must unload the contents of the DS Installer media prior to the installation.

Consequently, the basic steps involved in installing 3DEXPERIENCE platform apps are as follows:

  • unload the media containing the 3DEXPERIENCE platform apps you want to install
  • if needed, unload the DS Installer media
  • then launch the 3DEXPERIENCE platform app installation.

Which Installation Tools Are Provided?

The DS Installer provides a common set of installation tools. The principal tools and features are as follows:

  • Graphical User Interface (GUI) mode
  • Text User Interface (TUI) mode
  • silent installation mode
  • the user experience is the same on both Windows and Linux platforms.
