Installing a Native App

You can install a Native App using the standard installation GUI.

Procure the media for your operating system (NativeApps_3DEXP.Windows64), and start the installation as explained in the DS Installer Guide. Then, switch to the specific instructions in this guide. Also see the DS Installer Guide for instructions about how to install in Text User Interface (TUI) mode or silent mode.

Before you begin:
  • See the Program Directory to verify that you have all the software prerequisites.
  • Close any running programs.
  1. Continue with the installation.

The setup program starts and the 3DEXPERIENCE R2022x welcome dialog box is displayed.

    Click Next.

  2. Choose the installation directory.

    The default destination directory is:

    C:\Program Files\Dassault
              Systemes\B424

For 64-bit code, the default destination folder is:

    C:\Program Files\Dassault
              Systemes\B424\win_b64

If the default destination folder is suitable, click Next or enter a new path, click Browse... and navigate to select or create another folder and click OK. The folder you choose must be empty.

    Click Next.

Installing Several Identical Releases in Different Locations on the Same Computer

Providing you have enough disk space, you can install several identical releases in different locations on the same computer.

If you are not installing from scratch, the setup procedure detects the presence of existing installations for the same GA level on your computer, and lists the installation paths.

For example, you may want to install the same GA release in two places. Your first installation could be, for example, the production version. Then, a second installation would become the test version, enabling you to test it before it becomes the official production version.

The different releases you can install may belong either to the same product line, or to different product lines.

To install another identical release, enter a new path or click Browse..., specify the new destination folder, then click OK.

Click Next to display the 3DEXPERIENCE Identifier for your new Installation dialog box containing a field allowing you to specify the identifier.

Enter an identifier that will enable you to identify all the components of your new installation. The string must contain uppercase characters or numbers, or "-" or "_", and must not exceed 20 characters.

The identifier for your new installation is visible:

    • in the shortcut name on the desktop
    • in the appropriate registry entries
    • in the name Start > All Programs > Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE R2022x IDENT and new entries for the corresponding tools are created
    • in the Programs and Features control.

If identical releases belonging to the same product line are installed, the OLE behavior is the same for both. However, if the installations involve different product lines, the OLE behavior registered for the last installation takes priority.

  3. Select the required components in the list.

The installable roles are organized by industries. Selecting an industry includes all the roles it contains.

    • Use the Filter to directly access the component you want to install (available only for roles and not industries).

The number of roles matching the filter is displayed.

If you remove the filter, selection changes are kept
    • Click to expand the tree or to collapse it.
    • Click to select all the roles or to deselect all the roles.
    • Show Installable Components displays all the roles that are available for installation
    • Show Selected Components displays only the selected roles
    • Show Installed Components (if available) displays the roles already installed

You can combine Show Selected Components with the Filter to only display the roles matching the filter among those already selected.

The components are identified by role name. Some components require additional roles to be selected:

If you have not selected a component and at least one of the required roles for this component, an error message appears. The space available and space required for your installation are displayed in real time.

    After the selection, click Next.

  4. Specify optionally if you want to install additional resources.

Certain roles are packaged with additional resources. Additional resources comprise typically HDR files, CATNls files, etc. If the roles you selected include additional resources, the resource types will be listed in the dialog box, and the amount of space required to install the resources will be displayed. You can choose to install the resources or not.

The Install all additional resources check box is checked by default. Uncheck it if you do not want to install them.

If you decide not to install the resources initially, you can still install them later. To do so, relaunch the installer that will detect the installations on your machine. Select the installation. The installer will detect the components already installed. Click Next to access the Install all additional resources check box again, and check it this time before proceeding.

    Click Next.

  5. If the selected components require it, select the check box if you want to install the DS MJPEG Codec and Windows Media Video 9 VCM filter.

If you select the check box and click Next to continue, the corresponding end user license agreement dialog box appears. Check the appropriate button to certify that you have read and accept the license terms or not.

    Click Next.

  6. Select the check box to configure the Know-How Apps environment if required.

Clear it if you do not want to configure the Know-How Apps environment. If you selected the check box, then Click Next.

Specify the directory manually, or click the Browse... button and navigate to select another directory and click OK.

A new environment variable will be added to the Env.txt environment file:

    DPCRuntimeView

    Click Next.

  7. Check the options for the custom shortcuts to be created.

    The list contains:

    • Tools entries in the Start Menu (grayed out)
    • 3DEXPERIENCE entries in the Start Menu
    • 3DEXPERIENCE icon on Desktop.

    Click Next.

  8. Select the check box I want to install Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2017 if required.

If you want to edit VSTA macro projects, you need to have already installed (and run at least once) one of the following supported editions of Visual Studio: Visual Studio 2012, 2013, 2015 or 2017 (Pro or Community Edition).

If you want to install VSTA later, run the following program: VSTA\vsta_setup.exe, so long as you already installed a compatible editor if you want to both edit and run macros.

If you install a new version of Visual Studio, you will need to uninstall then reinstall the VSTA runtime software so that the new version of Visual studio is taken into account.

If you want to run VSTA macros, the following must be installed before running the Native App installer:

    • .NET 4.6.2

If .NET 4.6.2 is not installed, the installer will display the following error message:

.NET 4.6.2 is required to install VSTA 2017

and you will not be able to continue the Native App installation until you uncheck the I want to install Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2017 option

    • VSTA 2017 (installed by the DS Installer if you checked the appropriate option)
    • Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2015 (x86 and x64) (installed by the DS Installer)
    • Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 (x86 and x64) (if Visual Studio 2012 is installed)
    • Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 (x86 and x64) (if Visual Studio 2013 is installed)
    • Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2017 (x86 and x64) ( if Visual Studio 2017 is installed).

    Click Next.

  9. Depending on the components you chose, choose the main legacy source by checking the appropriate option.or, check the No legacy connector option.

    Your choices are:

    • ENOVIAvpm
    • ENOVIA SmarTeam
    • ENOVIA VPMV5
    • ENOVIA XCAD Design Management

If you click Next after checking a legacy source option, a dialog box is displayed allowing you to specify its connection parameters:

    Specify:

    • the username for which the mapping will be generated
    • the password of this user
    • the role for which the mapping will be generated

  10. Review your choices before installing the code.

The central area lists the current choices you set in the previous steps (depending on which software you chose to install).

Click the Install to start copying the files to your computer.

If your product media is split into several volumes, a message will be displayed, for example:

    Please insert media number 2

prompting you to insert the next media.

A dialog box informs you that the setup procedure has finished installing the software on your computer, and prompts you to launch your product now.

  11. Click the Close button to finish the installation.

By default, the product launch check box is selected. Clear the check box if you do not want to start your session now.

Note: Once the installation is finished, you must commit the installation using the Start > All Programs > Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE R2022x > Tools > Software Management command.
