How to specify Settings

You can specify settings in a session or without running a session.

This task shows you how to:

Specify Settings in a Session

  1. Select Me > Preferences.
    • Main Preferences gives access to most used and most important preferences. Preferences available in this tab are also available in the All Preferences tab.

      Main Preferences are organized in categories:

      • Select the element in the tree corresponding to the preferences to be customized.
      • Expand the appropriate area on the right side of the dialog box.
    • All Preferences gives access to all preferences through an organization based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform common preferences and quadrants of the Compass with the corresponding apps.
      • Expand a quadrant or common preferences
      • Select the element in the tree corresponding to the preferences to be customized.
      • Expand the appropriate area on the right side of the dialog box.
  2. To access the settings for a specific configuration, click to display the subcategories. Clicking on the subcategory displays the settings tabs.

Specify Settings Without Running a Session on Windows

This task explains how to set settings without running a session on Windows.

  1. Change to the default folder in which you installed the product.

    On Windows, the default folder is: C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B424\win_b64\code\bin

  2. Enter the command:
    catstart -run "CATPreferenceMgt -admin"

    If you have several runtime environments on your computer, you can select the environment by entering the following command:

    catstart -run "CATPreferenceMgt -admin" -env envname

    where "envname" is the name of the environment.

    You can also access the Options dialog box using the Start > All Programs > Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE R2021x > Tools menu, and running the Settings Management command.

    The Options dialog box is displayed.

    This function is useful for administrators because it allows you to set up user settings without having to start an interactive session first.

  3. Log onto the server using the administration security context.

Export Settings

This task explains how to dump settings.

  1. Select Me > Preferences.
  2. Click Export at the bottom left of the window.
    A dialog box with the location of the macro file is displayed.
  3. In the Export Options dialog box, select one of the export options and click Ok.
