Fixing Components

You can fix a component using an engineering connection.

Fixing a component prevents it from moving with relation to its parent during the update process.

The fixed component is always a child component of the active product.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Open an existing assembly.

Fix Components in One Shot

You can select components before running the Fix command.

Select components to fix in the tree or in the 3D area.
Alternatively, you can use the trap selection mode.
From the Assembly section of the action bar, click Fix .
For each selected component, a Fix engineering connection containing a Fix in space constraint is created in the tree.

You can run the Fix command and select one component.

From the Assembly section of the action bar, click Fix .
Select the component to fix in the tree or in the 3D area.
For the selected component, a Fix engineering connection containing a Fix in space constraint is created in the tree.

You can run and lock the Fix command before selecting components successively.

From the Assembly section of the action bar, double-click Fix .
Select components to fix in the tree or in the 3D area.
Press ESC to unlock the command and exit the fix creation.
For each selected component, a Fix engineering connection containing a Fix in space constraint is created in the tree.

You can select one component before running the Engineering Connection command.

Select the component to fix in the tree or in the 3D area.
From the Assembly section of the action bar, click Engineering Connection .

The Engineering Connection Definition dialog box appears.

In the dialog box, a Fix in space constraint is created with the selected component, and the Fix engineering connection type is selected.
Click OK in the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box.
For the selected component, a Fix engineering connection containing a Fix in space constraint is created in the tree.
