Creating and Editing an Interference Simulation

You can create an interference simulation and compute the interferences that exist in a given product. You can define specifications to compute clashes, contacts, and clearances between objects. You can also modify the specifications and the elements under the context for the interference computation and recompute the simulation.

This task shows you how to:

Create an Interference Simulation

You can compute the interferences for the whole product as a context except the parts in no show mode. You can also define the required elements in a group or groups and use the various modes available for the computation.

  1. Optional: Specify a title for the interference simulation.
  2. Define the context to compute the interference.
  3. To define the groups inside the simulation context:
    1. From the list, select either of the following:

      • Inside groups: to compute interferences between the elements of a group. You can select one or more groups. However, interferences are computed only between the objects of the same group.
      • Groups against groups: to compute interferences between the elements of different groups. Interferences are computed between all parts of one group and all parts of other groups.
      • Groups against context: to compute interferences between the selected elements in a group, and the remaining elements in the context. Interferences are computed between defined groups against the context.

    2. Click Add new group to create a group.
    3. Add the required elements in the group. To do so:

      .

  4. In the Specifications tab, define the required specifications. To do so:
    1. Select the following check boxes:

      • Clash: to compute clashes only.
      • Contact: to compute clashes and contacts.
      • Clearance: to compute the clearances lower than the minimum clearance value defined in the Clearance box, clashes, and contacts.

By default, the Clash check box is selected.

    2. Select the Execute simulation check box and click OK.

The interference simulation is computed and the results appear in the tree. If you export the interference simulation, filters as well as advanced filters cannot be exported in a 3dxml.

Edit an Interference Simulation

You can modify the specifications and the elements under the context to recompute the interference simulation when you are in Interference Check.

  1. From the section of the action bar, select Edit specification.
The Interference simulation definition dialog box appears.
  2. In the Specifications tab, modify the specifications specified previously while computing the interference simulation.
  3. Click OK.
The interference is recomputed based on the modified specifications and for the defined elements of the context.
