Mechanical Systems Design

Mechanical Systems Design is a solution that lets you create and set up mechanisms to perform motion simulations. Combining both Kinematics and Dynamics behaviors, Mechanical Systems Design not only considers motion but also the underlying forces to provide realistic simulations of motions.

The configuration and motion of the mechanism is based on the degrees of freedom and relative motions allowed by the engineering connections — referred to as joints when included in a mechanism.

This product offers the following main capabilities:

  • Create mechanisms.
  • Assemble mechanisms.
  • Determine subsets of predefined engineering connections to include in mechanisms.
  • Specify commands to define the motion of mechanisms.
  • Assess the motion of your mechanisms as driven by the specified commands (kinematics) or by motors (dynamics).

Use the Mechanical Systems Experience app to:

  • Create kinematics simulations and simulate the motion of assembly mechanisms with different configurations.
  • Create dynamics simulations and simulate the motion of mechanisms by taking account of forces, such as mass and gravity.
