Editing Constraints in Engineering Connections from the 3D area

You can edit engineering connection constraints in the 3D area.

Constraints can be edited and are displayed in 3D. The following operations can be performed:

  • Constraint value can be modified by double-clicking it.
  • Constraint value can be modified using manipulator while respecting the engineering connection definition.
  • Constraint can be deactivated/activated.
  • Constraint Mode can be set.
  • Constraint orientation can be modified.

Before you begin: Open an existing assembly containing 3D shape representations and an engineering connection with an offset constraint and an angle constraint.

Make sure that the Display in 3D option is selected, see Engineering Connection.

Important:

This option can be enabled in the Engineering Connection Assistant panel during engineering connection creation or edition:

  1. Hover the pointer over assembly components in the 3D area.

Engineering connections associated with a component are displayed in the 3D area.

    The following information is displayed:

  2. Click an engineering connection from the 3D area.
    A context toolbar is displayed.
  3. Click Edit constraints .

    Tip:

You can also edit constraints by right-clicking engineering_connection_name > Edit Constraints from the tree.

  4. Hover the pointer over the offset constraint.

Important: The manipulator appears while respecting the engineering connection definition and indicates in which direction the movable component will move. When both components can be moved, two manipulators appear.

A manipulator appears at one extremity of the offset arrow. You can drag it to modify the offset.
  5. Click the offset value to modify it with the keyboard.
  6. Set the value offset to 30 mm and press Enter.
  7. Click the offset dimension or extension line to display the context toolbar.
  8. Hover the pointer over the left context toolbar command.
This displays available context toolbar commands for constraint activation.
  9. Click outside constraints to exit the edition mode.
