Exporting a Simulation

Export Animation allows you to export an animation of a simulation to be replayed in another context.

The animation is exported to the main product. For example, if you create a simulation on a landing gear, you can export the animation to the landing gear product and replay it in the context of the entire plane.

Before you begin:

Generate the scenario results of a kinematics simulation to have them appear under the Result node.

  1. Click Export Animation and select a scenario result under the Results node.
The animation appears under the Model node of the tree, in the Animations folder located within the animation representation of a product.
Important: If you update a result of the scenario, the corresponding exported animation is updated accordingly.

In the tree illustration below, the simulation of the product animation appears under the Mechanism Representation .

  2. Optional: Click Play from the Compass, and select the animation representation in the tree.
The current animation is automatically played.
  3. Optional: Run the DownwardCompatibility Batch if you need to create downward compatibility between V6 and V5:
    1. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Utility.
The Batch Monitor dialog box appears.
    2. Double-click DownwardCompatibility. For more information, see File Coexistence and Migration User's Guide.
    3. Select a V6 Product containing at least one non empty animation representation.
    4. Select the target release for the conversion (V5).
A replay object is created under Applications in the V5 product structure. The V5 replay can be animated using the standard DMU functions.
