Computing and Generating Results

You can execute one or several scenarios in two different modes: compute mode with a local or global update, and preview mode. The results of your kinematics/dynamic scenario are generated and saved into the database.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  • Open a kinematics simulation referencing a mechanism in the Mechanical Systems Experience app. app.
  • Create a kinematics or a dynamics scenario based on predefined law excitations.

Compute and Generate Results with a Local Update

After modifying a model, you can run a local computation of the scenario and update it independently of the whole assembly in which it is inserted.

  1. Select one or several scenarios.
  2. Optional: To preview the simulation of the scenario apart from its computation, click Preview Scenario .

Compute and Generate Results with a Global Update

After modifying a model, you can update the scenario and the whole assembly in which it is inserted before its simulation. After the simulation of the scenario, the results can be updated all at once. At any time, you can also use a Force update without checking if the scenario needs to be updated or not.

  1. To compute all scenarios at once, click Compute and Generate Results with a Global Update .
  2. Optional: To preview the simulation of the scenario apart from its computation, click Preview Scenario .
  3. To force the whole assembly update, right-click the scenario, and select Force Compute and Generate Results.
The command is always available, even when the model is already up-to-date.

Preview Scenario

You can visually check a scenario and animate the recorded command values.

  1. Use the controls on the Simulation Player to animate your mechanism or to step through the time increments in your simulation.
  2. When you are done previewing the simulation, close the Simulation Player.
The position of the mechanism is reset to its nominal position.
