Publish a Concept to Create a KML Template

You can publish your concept as a KML template that is then stored as a feature in the Know-how Apps component and can be instantiated in the 3D Templates Capture app.

A KML template is a standard 3D template with inputs and parameters that can be instantiated using the Insert Object dialog box also used for user features, power copies and engineering templates. The Publish as KML Template command creates a new feature in the Know-how Apps component.

  1. In the tree, right-click a concept and select Publish as KML Template.
    The published concept appears in the tree.
  2. Double-click this published concept.

    The Know-how Apps Creation app opens.

  3. Double-click this published concept again.
    The KML Template tab opens. The template inputs and parameters are automatically inferred from the concept definition.
  4. Associate an image with the template.

Notes:
  • When publishing a concept as a template, make sure that the evaluation engine can fully generate the concept using only the defined inputs.
  • The following concepts cannot be published as templates:
    • Concepts with inputs for which a value cannot be selected in context (features) or directly modified (literal).
    • A Concept with other concepts objects as input.

Publish a Concept to Create a KML Concept

You can store your concept in a catalog and then instantiate it through the Catalog browser.

Note: You must have created a KML library containing a concept. This concept must have been published in the Know-how Apps component it is stored in.

  1. In the tree, right-click a concept and select Publish as KML Concept.
    A new item is added to the tree below the Includes node. This feature can be included into a catalog. It is created in the Know-how Apps component pointing to the concept on which it was used.
  2. Create a catalog, click Insert Feature and click the new feature in the KML library.

    The new feature is now stored in the catalog.

  3. To instantiate your concept, open your catalog in the catalog browser and instantiate it.
