You can minimize component duplication while ensuring the integrity of your model
with respect to existing links between components. You can also lock the duplication state so
that the administrator is given the sole authorization to duplicate or keep family
components.
Before you begin: Open a product that has one or more component family items.
Note:
By default, all family
components are duplicated. You can now deactive this duplication in the
Preferences section.
From the top bar,
select Me > Preferences, and then click the App Preferences
tab.
In the left-hand pane, expand 3D Modeling, and then Multi Discipline
Automated Engineering.
In the right-hand pane, expand the section corresponding to the options to be
customized.

Check the Initialize family with minimum configuration for component
duplication box.
The command controls are disabled and the help message is modified.
Check the Lock modification of 'Component Duplication Configuration'
command box to ensure that only the administrator can duplicate or keep
components.
