Defining the Generic Model Components Behavior at Generation

You can select the generic model components that you do not want to duplicate at items generation. You can define if a generic model component is unchanged or duplicated during item resolution. This command proves useful in the context of assembly families where some components may be common to all items. In this case they are not to be duplicated.

Note: The switch to “Keep as in generic model” or “duplicated” and vice versa may not have any effect if it breaks the model integrity or if it breaks some rules:
  • You cannot decide to duplicate the root product and the representation containing the table (design table or product table)
  • You cannot decide to duplicate a family item
  • Depending on the links existing between the components, the change may not occur: If a component has an input link from a component that is not duplicated, this component is not to be duplicated
  • If a child is duplicated, its father is duplicated
  • If a father is not duplicated, its children are not be duplicated.

  1. Click Define Components not to Duplicate .
  2. In the Choice of the components not to be Duplicated dialog box, select the components you want to duplicate and click Duplicate.
  3. Click OK when done.
