Enabling Test Mode

You can make modifications on different component families and generate new items while preserving the integrity of their in-production usage.

  • Test Mode is accessible through the component family editor or the Product Table.
  • By default, Test Mode is deactivated.
  • Test Mode operates in iterative mode, meaning it is applied to component family items iteratively.

Before you begin: The Use Items with Target Maturity preference must be activated to use this mode.

From the component family editor, click Activate Test Mode.
An automatic message that reads "Test mode is activated, you can use items with any maturity. Keep the component family editor open in order to use it." The check box text changes to "Test Mode is active. Click to deactivate."
Note: You can also activate Test Mode through the Product Table by clicking the Test Mode check box. By default, Test Mode is disabled.

In the context of deep component families:

  • You can activate test mode for in-work items.
  • When generating or applying a row to a product table, every usage of family items is based on the latest revision of items, even if they have an in-work status.
  • You can test component family modifications without affecting in-production users.
  • Test Mode and Use Items only with Target Maturity preferences do not affect the generation of items in the component family editor by its owners.
  • If maturity change mode is set to automatic for the family and test mode is enabled, the maturity of resolved models does not automatically change.
