Creating a Design Table from an Existing File

You can create a design table using a pre-existing file. A design table is a feature that you create using your document parameters or external data. No matter the existence of external data, the design table must be created in the 3DEXPERIENCE. You can create a design table using the current parameter values or a pre-existing file.

  1. In Excel or in your text editor, create a table containing columns and save your file.
  2. In the top bar, position your mouse over Add and select Add > Content.
  3. Select Engineering Document.
  4. In the Select File window, select the .txt or .xls file you created and click Save.
  5. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Design Table .
  6. Optional: Enter a name and a comment in theCreation of a Design Table dialog box.
  7. Check Create a design table from a pre-existing file and click OK.
  8. Enter vpmdoc: * in the Search field and click .
  9. Select the document containing your .xls or .txt file and click
    A dialog box asks you whether you want to perform automatic associations between the design table columns and the model parameters that have the same name.
  10. Click Yes.
    A multi-row design table is created. The '<' and '>' symbols show the current configuration.
    Note: Design Table (.xls or .txt) sheets can be edited from the Search results window.
