Instantiating an Engineering Template Using the Replace Option

After creating an engineering template whose instantiation behavior is set to Replace, you can instantiate it.


Before you begin: Import and open the EngineeringTemplateReplace.3dxml file located in the startup\KnowledgewareEngineeringTemplateReplace directory.
  1. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Engineering Template Instantiation .
    A message appears asking you to query an object using the Search box.
  2. Enter tmp: followed by the template name in the Search box of the top bar and click .
    Important: You can either search for your own engineering template created as described in Engineering Templates Capture: Creating an Engineering Template: Creating an Engineering Template Using the Replace Option or for any other indexed engineering template.
  3. Select your template.
    Notes:
    • The icon located at the top of the dialog box let you select an assembly that contains all replacing products as first children and replace it in one click. The icon lets you unset all the replaced components.
    • In the Select Components to Set dialog box, the number of lines is identical to the number of To Replace components.
      • From Database lets you perform a search operation.
      • From Catalog lets you search in a catalog.
      • enables you to unset the current replacing component for each line allowing you not to select a replacing item.
  4. In the Select Components to Set dialog box, click From Catalog.
    The Catalog Browser opens.
  5. Select the appropriate reference in the catalog and click OK.
    The replacing component is defined.
  6. Click OK to validate your selection.
  7. Click OK in the Insert Object dialog box.
    The template is instantiated.
