Generating a File From a Design Table

You can generate a representation of the design table from scratch using the data contained in the model.


Before you begin: From Me > Preferences > 3D Modeling > Multi Discipline Automated Engineering > Basics > Parameters and Relations, access the Design Table section and make sure Interactive Synchronization is selected.
  1. In Excel or in your text editor, create a table containing the following columns:
    'PartBody\Point.2\Z'(mm) Part Number 30 25 75 -15 32
  2. From the Tools section of the action bar , click Design Table .
  3. Enter a name and a comment.
  4. Check Create a design table from a pre-existing file and click OK
  5. Click the From File tab and click Import.
  6. Select the .xls or .txt file you have just created and click Open.
  7. Type the name of the Representation. Click OK twice.
    A dialog box asks you whether you want to perform automatic associations between the design table columns and the document parameters whose names are identical.
  8. Click Yes. In the DesignTable.xxx active window, Check Duplicate data in model.
    Note: If this option is not selected, you cannot generate a new file.
  9. Click OK to apply the default configuration.
    DesignTable.1 appears below the Relations node.
  10. Select Share > Save > Save with Options.
  11. Right-click DesignTable.1 in the tree and select DesignTable.1 object > Export content to file.
  12. Type the name of the representation and click OK.
  13. Click Yes when asked if you want this file to become the new design table source file.
    The representation containing the design table data is created.
