Valuating Parameters Located in Different Components

You can valuate parameters located in different components. An adapted structure is automatically created if you want to value parameters with a relation located in another component.

  1. Select Add > Content> Physical Product.
  2. Right-click the Product in the tree and select Insert > 3D Shape.
  3. Double-click the Representation, click Formula in the Tools section and create two Real type parameters.
  4. Set the value of the first parameter to 3 and the value of the second parameter to 5.
  5. Double-click the Product and click Knowledge Engineering Specification in the secondary area of the Tools section. Click OK.
  6. From the Compass, click 3D Modeling Apps and select Engineering Rules Capture.
  7. Click Rule and OK.
  8. Click Real.1, set its value to 15.3 and click Apply.
    A message appears informing you that your parameter has been replaced by another one and that a structure has been created.
  9. Click Close and OK when done.
    The following structure is created:
    • A Parameters node is created below the Knowledge Engineering specification pointing Real.1 and setting it to 15.3 (the value set in the rule).
    • An External Parameters node is created below the Representation containing a Real.1 external parameter.
    • Real.1 is valuated below the Parameters node.
  10. From the Standard section of the action bar, click Links and Relations to update the external parameter.
  11. Click Synchronize Link .
    The external parameter is updated.
