Testing the Installation and Setup

After installation and setup, you can test batch printing and PDF rendering. PDF rendering is only supported for Generic Document objects added to a document family. The PDF rendering supports Microsoft formats such as Doc, XLS, PPT, VSD, plus many image formats such as JPEG, GIF, and BMP. You can refer to the Adlib website for a complete list of supported formats.

Test Batch Printing

You can follow these steps to test batch printing of PDF files.

  1. Log in as any user who has access to view document families.
  2. Select a document family that has documents in it and view its properties page.
  3. Select the Categories > Documents.
  4. Select the documents to print and click the Print Selected link at the bottom. The Print page must display with the printers in the property file available in the list. Select the number of copies to print and click Done. The selected documents must be printed to the selected printer. If not, you must get an email or icon mail listing the problem.

    The Print Selected command is also available from the Files category in the Document tree, the Document Sheets category in the Document Tree, and the Files category in the Document Sheets tree.

Test PDF Rendering

You can follow these steps to test PDF rendering.

  1. Log in as any user who has access to view documents.
  2. Select a document that has files and view its tree.
  3. Select the Files category in the tree.
  4. Select files to convert to PDF and click the Render Selected to PDF link at the bottom. A confirmation message must be displayed that a Rendering job is submitted.

    The Rendering job is submitted in the background and the PDF file can be visible in the files list after a while. The system load and the number of print/rendering jobs submitted will affect the wait time before you see the PDF file in the file list.
