Creating Classification Attributes

You can create classification attributes in IP Classification under Attribute Group that can be assigned to any class.

Required access roles:

  • Baseline: Leader

  1. In the navigation pane, click Administration and click Attribute Group Maintenance.
  2. Select the attribute group under which you want to create a classification attribute.
  3. Click Create Classification Attribute.

    Note: A message appears notifying that all associated classified items will be modified if the attribute group is already associated with libraries and classified items. Click OK to proceed.

  4. Enter the following details.

    Field Name Description
    Name Enter the name of the classification attribute. The name must be alphanumeric, and can extend up to 127 characters. Spaces are allowed. The first character of the name must not be a number.
    Display Name Enter the display name of the classification attribute. Special characters like = : < > [ ] are restricted.
    Recommendation: Do not use any special characters.
    Type Select the attribute type.
    Dimensions (Unit) Select a dimension for the attribute. This field is available only for the attribute type Real.
    Important: When a dimension is selected, the fields Authorized Values, Minimum (Inclusive), and Maximum (Inclusive) are not applicable.
    Preferred Unit If the dimension is specified, select a display unit for the dimension.
    Important: The unit shown for Business Objects is the default unit of dimension irrespective of the unit selected here.
    Is Multivalue Select True if the attribute is a multivalued attribute. Otherwise, select False.
    Predicate Search and select a predicate for the selected type.

    Recommendation: Choose a unique predicate for each attribute.

    Display in 6WTags Select Yes to use the attribute with 6WTags. This field is only for attribute types String and Boolean.
    Description Describe the attribute.
    Default Value Enter the default value for the attribute.
    Authorized Values Enter the authorized values for the attribute. This field is only for the attribute types String, Integer, and Real.
    Notes:
    • For the attribute type String, special characters other than space and underscore are not allowed.
    • For the attribute types Integer and Real, special characters like plus sign (+) and exponential are not allowed.
    Minimum (Inclusive) Enter the minimum value for the range. This field is only for the attribute types Integer and Real.
    Maximum (Inclusive) Enter the maximum value for the range. This field is only for the attribute types Integer and Real.

  5. Click Done.
    The classification attribute is created.

Note: Notify your business administrator to the following.
  • Update the index model to make the attributes available for the indexation process. For more information, see Working with Server Utilities in the Collaborative Spaces Control Center Administrator's Guide.
  • Reload the cache to make the Display Name effective. For more information, see Working with Server Utilities in the Collaborative Spaces Control Center Administrator's Guide.
Recommendation: Use the Indexation or Reload Cache command only after creating all the required attributes.
