Adding a Slab

Slab lets you create a horizontal slab that is in addition to the primary slab created automatically for each story. For example, you can create a slab for a patio outside a second floor cafeteria.

  1. Use Activate Story to select the specific story where you want to locate the slab.
  2. To sketch the slab:
    1. From the Building section of the action bar, click Positioned Sketch .
    2. In the 3D area, sketch the slab.
    3. In the Sketcher app, in the Sketch section of the action bar, click Exit App .
  3. From the Building section of the action bar, click Slab .
  4. In the 3D area, click the sketch of the slab.
  5. From the Slab dialog box, from Interior Slab , click one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Added to create the slab both inside and outside the building.
    Interior to create the slab only inside the building.
    Exterior to create the slab only outside the building.
  6. To select the direction of the slab thickness, from Down , click one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Down to place the slab thickness down from the reference plane.
    Up to place the slab thickness up from the reference plane.
    Both to place the slab thickness half up from the reference plan and half down.
  7. To adjust the slab thickness, from the 3D area, drag the handle or enter the desired slab thickness in the value box.
  8. From the dialog box, click .
