Importing an OSM File

Open OSM Map lets you import one or more osm files from OpenStreetMap and use them to develop a site plan for a building a civil engineering. If the osm file includes three-dimensional map elements, you can also include that information in the same import.

  1. From the Import OSM dialog box, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
Import 2D geometry only Imports only the two-dimension osm map. The function implements this option by default when the osm map only includes two-dimensional elements.
Import 3D building geometry Imports the osm and makes all three-dimensional buildings into three-dimensional shapes. You cannot use these shapes to create a mass.
Import 3D building geometry into building products Imports the osm map and converts all three-dimensional buildings into building products. You can then create a mass from each building product.
Note: This option is only available on a Site tab.
Assign default building height if 3D data is missing Assigns the default building height if 3D data is missing.
Note: This check box is available only if you select either Import 3D building geometry or Import 3D building geometry into building products.
  2. Select the osm file to import as follows:
    1. Click Browse.
    2. From the Import OSM dialog box, locate and select the OSM file to import.
    3. Click Open.
  3. From the Import OSM dialog box, click .

In the dialog box, Number of stories, Story height, and Slab thickness appear with entries that reflect the values in the osm map.
    5. Click .
In the tree, the system lists the Building with its Shell and Core and each of the building stories.
