Space Program
When you import a space requirements spreadsheet, the
Space Program tab displays the columns from your
imported spreadsheet. It does so by considering the first row of your
spreadsheet as the column names.
The section also includes additional columns for the actual values in
the building. While the names in the tab can vary depending on the column names
in the imported spreadsheet, the following column names have special meaning in
the Space Program:
- Department
- Department owning the named space. The department is part of the
type, department, sub-department concatenation that the Space Program uses to
associate the space type row in the space requirements with individual spaces
in the building.
- Sub-Department
- The sub-department owning the space. The sub-department is part
of the type, department, sub-department concatenation that the Space Program
uses to associate the space type row in the space requirements with individual
spaces.
- Space Type
- Describes the function of the space. The type is part of the
type, department, sub-department concatenation that the Space Program uses to
associate the space type row in the building requirements with individual
spaces in the building.
- Name
- Name identifying the space. Spaces of the same type can have
different names.
- ID
- The space ID that is unique to the space.
- Area
- The programmed area of the space determined by the imported
space requirements.
Note:
When dragging from the space program (or space browser), the
space created will have this area.
- Actual Area
- The actual total area of the type of the space. The listing is
specific to the type of space that is identified by concatenating its type,
department, and sub-department. Space Program automatically includes this
column whenever the imported space requirements include a Space Area column or
X and Y columns.
- Count
- The number of spaces of this type (that is, with the same
department, sub-department, and type) specified in the original space
requirements. This count limits the number of spaces of this type that you can
create from the Space Program or Space Browser. For example, the original
requirements could have a count of 15
rooms.
When you create spaces of this type from the Space Program (or Space Browser)
and reach the count for the space type specified in the space requirement, you
cannot add any more spaces of this type from the Space Program or Space
Browser.
Note:
It is possible to manually create additional spaces and edit
the space properties to match the department, sub-department, and name of the
required space type.
- Actual Count
- The actual count of the spaces with the same department,
sub-department, and space type. For example, if you drag into the building 25
out of a
building program requested count of 50,
Actual Count is 25. Space Program
automatically includes this column if the imported building program spreadsheet
includes the
Count column.
- Walls
- Indicates if the space is surrounded by walls.
- Space Height
- The height of the space.
- Color
- The color of the space, specified by Red (R), Green (G), Blue
(B), and Transparency (T) values. R,G,B,T are integer values that range from
0-255. The R,G,B values are required, while the T value is optional. If the T
value is missing, the system sets it to a default value of 0.
- Floor Number
- The story numbers or names on which the spaces should be created.
If there is a corresponding story with this name in the building when you
create a space type by dragging and dropping, the story becomes the active
story with this name and the system creates the space on this story.
- Actual Floor
- The story number or name where the spaces of this type are
located in the project. Space Program automatically includes this column
whenever the imported space requirements include a Floor Number column.
- X
- The width, that is, the dimensions along the X axis for each
space of this type. The value reflects the width (X-axis dimension) of a space
created from the Space Program. Space Program only displays X and its
associated Y columns when they are included in the imported building program.
When these two columns are missing from the imported spreadsheet, Space Program
assumes that the space is a square when you drag the space into the building to
create a space. For example, for a vice president's office with a 100 square
foot area, the space area becomes a 10 by 10 space when dragged into the
building.
- Y
- The length, that is, the dimensions along the Y axis, for each
space of this type. The value reflects the length (Y-axis dimension) of a space
created from the Space Program. Space Program only displays Y and the
associated X columns when they are included in the imported space requirements.
When these two columns are missing from the imported spreadsheet, Space Program
assumes that the space is a square when you drag the space into the building.
- Space Area
- The area programmed in the original building requirements for
each space of this type.
Note:
All measurements in the Space Program are in the default
units.
If there is a mismatch between the X-Y dimensions and Space
Area, the X-Y dimensions take precedence for spaces that you drag into the
building.
- Total Area
- The total space area for the space type.
Space Summary
This section provides summary data on space types in the building.
The columns in the section are:
- Type
- The space type (department, sub-department, and type) in the
building.
- Department
- Department owning the named space in the building.
- Sub-Department
- Sub-department owning the named space in the building.
- Qty
- The number of spaces of this type (department, sub-department,
and name). This is the same number as the actual count on the
Building Program tab.
- Floor
- The story or stories where the spaces of this type (department,
sub-department, and name) are located in the building.
- Area
- The total actual area of all the spaces of this space type (that
is, same department, sub-department, and name).
Space Inventory
This section lists every space located in the building. For example,
if you have 12 classrooms in the building, Space Program lists each classroom
individually in the
Space Inventory tab.
The columns are:
- Department
- The department owning the space in the building.
- Sub-Department
- The sub-department owning the space in the building.
- Type
- The type of the space in the building.
- Name
- The name for the space in the building.
-
- The ID for the space in the building.
- Floor
- The story where the space is located in the building.
- Area
- The actual area of the space in the building.
The
Space Program
displays subtotal for
Area column. To view a subtotal of specific
cells within Area column, hold down the
Ctrl key and select the required cells. An Info
panel displays the subtotals.
