Creating Buildings from Parameters, Reference Planes, or a Spreadsheet

You can create a building product structure by editing a set of parameters, selecting reference places, or from a spreadsheet.

This task shows you how to:

Create Buildings from Parameters

You can create a building by editing a set of parameters.

  1. From the Building section of the action bar, click Create Building .
  2. In the Create Building dialog box:
    1. In Stories above ground, enter the number of stories that the building has above ground.
    2. In Stories below ground, enter the number of stories that the building has below ground.
    3. In Story height, enter the distance between two stories.
    4. In Ground elevation, enter the elevation of the ground story.
    5. In Slab thickness, enter the thickness of each slab.
  3. Click .

Create Buildings from Reference Planes

You can create a building in which the story elevation is determined by selected reference planes.

  1. From the Building section of the action bar, click Create Building .
  2. In the tree, select reference planes.
  3. To specify the ground elevation manually:
    1. In the Create Building dialog box, select the Specify ground elevation check box.
    2. In Ground elevation, select the elevation of the ground story from the available options.
  4. Click .

Create Building from Spreadsheet

You can create a building entering the corresponding values in a spreadsheet.

  1. From the Building section of the action bar, click Create Building .
  2. In the Create Building dialog box, click Browse.
  3. In the Open Spreadsheet dialog box, browse to a spreadsheet and click Open.
  4. In the Create Building dialog box, in Ground story elevation, select the elevation of the ground story from the available options.
  5. Click .

The system generates a building product structure in the 3D area.
