  1. To create a slab opening, activate Shell and Core and create a closed sketch of the slab opening.
  2. From the Building section of the action bar, click Slab Opening.
  3. In the Slab Opening dialog box:
    1. From the dialog box, click Profile.
    2. In the tree, click the slab opening sketch.
    3. Click Selected Slabsselection list in the dialog box.
    4. In the tree, click the stories or slabs where you want to locate the slab openings.

If the sketch is active, the system populates Profile with the active sketch and Selected Slabs with Primary Slab 1 from the active story. If the active sketch is in Shell and Core, Primary Slab 1 is the primary slab in the lowest story in the building. You can delete this slab selection and choose another slab from one or more other stories.

  4. From Inner, select either:
    OptionDescription
Inner To remove the portion of the slab within the closed sketch.
Perimeter To remove the portion of the slab outside the closed sketch.
  5. Click .

The system creates slab openings in the 3D area and in the tree. The slab opening and its sketch are placed in the selected story or stories.

Note: When you use the same sketch for creating a slab opening on multiple stories, the function copies the sketch to each selected story and creates a unique slab opening on each selected story. To edit multiple slab openings, you need to edit each slab opening separately.
