Creating a Pit

You can create pits in one or more slabs in a building. You can also add or remove a trench at the bottom of the pit and also add or remove a curb at the top of the pit.

  1. Create a mass with stories.
  2. From the Building section of the action bar, click Pit .
  3. Set active story to the ground story.
  4. From the Pit dialog box, select either:
    1. Profile to create a pit by selecting a profile from the graphical region.
    2. Rectangle to create a rectangular pit.
  5. To adjust the pit length, drag the Pit Length handle.

    Alternatively, enter the length in the bottom value box.

  6. To adjust the pit width, drag the Pit Width handle.

    Alternatively, enter the width in the bottom value box.

  7. To adjust the pit depth, drag the Pit Depth handle.

    Alternatively, enter the depth in the bottom value box.

  8. To add a trench at the bottom of the pit, from the Pit dialog box, click Include Trench .
    1. In the Trench width box, enter the trench width.
    2. In the Trench depth box, enter the trench depth.

      To remove an existing trench, click Include Trench . You can toggle the Include Trench option to either add or remove a trench.

  9. To add a curb at the top of the pit, from the Pit dialog box, click Include Curb .
    1. In the Curb width box, enter the curb width.
    2. In the Curb height box, enter the curb height.

    To remove an existing curb, click Include Curb . You can toggle the Include Curb option to either add or remove a curb.

  10. In Extend Downward, enter the distance by which the walls of the pit extend downwards beyond the starting story.
  11. Click .
    The pit is created on the desired slab of the building.
  12. Optional: You can also change the wall thickness of the individual walls of the pit. Select the pit wall, from the context toolbar, click Wall Thickness and set the thickness value.
