Adding a Detailed Type to a Logical 3D Representation

This task shows you how to add a detailed type to a Logical 3D Representation. Detailed shapes can be saved in the database or a catalog and added later to the 3D view of the logical system description.

  1. Create a logical component.
  2. In 2D graph, select the logical component and click Create New 3D Logical Representation .
The Create New 3D Logical Representation dialog bow appears.
  3. In the Create New 3D Logical Representationdialog box, identify in a meaningful way the 3D logical representation.
An empty 3D Logical Representation is created.
  4. Select the 3D Logical Representation.
The Detail Type context toolbar appears:

  5. Select Detail Type to identify the 3D logical representation as a Detailed Shape type.
A Set Detail Type message appears: The Detail Type is set successfully. The 3D Logical Representation becomes a Detailed Shape:

Note that the Pathway Connection Point context toolbar is displayed and the Logical 3D Representation icon has changed in the tree. If it is not the case, collapse the node and then expand it; by this way the icon of the Logical 3D Representation should be refreshed.

For more information about 3D logical representations, see Functional & Logical Design User's Guide : Functional and Logical Definition : Logical : Creating 3D Representation for Logical Components.

  6. If you do have any shape, do either of the following to create it:
    • Copy paste an existing shape.
    • Design the shape from scratch in Natural Shape, Generative Shape Design, or Functional Plastic Parts.
  7. Click Share > Save > Save with Options to save the detailed shape (3D representation only) to the database or insert it in a catalog.
