Cross-highlighting Components and Ports in the Physical Domain

This section describes how you can check the status of 2D logical components and ports by highlighting these components in the physical domain.

Before you begin:
  1. Create or open a logical description of your system with logical components, logical connections, logical ports, shapes and pathways.
  2. Create a physical representation of your system and insert publications for the logical ports. A publication must have the same name as its corresponding logical port. For further details, see Functional & Logical Design User's Guide: Working with Publications.
  3. Create implement relations between the various logical components and their physical representations. For further details, see Functional & Logical Design User's Guide: Implement: Creating Implement Relations.

Note: Create implement relations for the root logical/physical references and also for the individual logical/physical references.

  1. Open the logical and physical views of your system.
In the example shown, the logical components (gray boxes) represent the red and green components in the physical domain.

  2. From the Routing section of the action bar, select Physical Cross Highlight.

Note: Physical Cross Highlight function activates the cross highlighting of components between 2D graph and the physical domain.

  3. Cross-highlight logical to physical: In the logical 2D graph or tree, select a logical component.
    • In the logical 3D view the corresponding shape is highlighted.
    • In the physical domain the corresponding 3D representation is highlighted.

  4. in the tree, select a physical component to cross-highlight physical to logical.
    • In the logical 2D graph the corresponding logical component is highlighted.
    • In the logical 3D view the corresponding shape is highlighted.
Note: This does not work from the 3D view; selecting a physical component in the 3D view does not highlight the corresponding logical component.
  5. In the logical 2D graph or tree, select a logical port to cross-highlight logical to physical ports.
    • In the logical 3D view the corresponding port is highlighted by a blue arrow.
    • In the physical domain the corresponding physical port publication is highlighted by a blue arrow provided that the physical publication has the same name as the logical port.
Note: This does not work in reverse; selecting a physical port publication does not highlight the corresponding logical port.
