Creating Zones

This section describes how to create a zone.

Zones represent areas around components that have specific requirements, for example, a heat-affected zone.

A zone consists of a logical zone component in the tree plus an optional shape representation in the work area. A zone does not have a representation in 2D graph.

Implement relations are used to associate a zone and logical components to requirements in the tree. Knowledge rules can then, for example, be used to check sensitive equipment in the zone.

Note: Only one shape representation can be associated to a zone - see Functional & Logical Design User's Guide :Creating 3D Representation for Logical Components

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  1. Open the logical description (2D graph) of your system.
  2. In 2D graph or tree, select the logical component under which you want to create the zone.

If you do not select a logical component, the logical zone will be created under the current active node in the tree.

You cannot create a zone under another logical zone or a pathway set.
