Displaying Annotations

You can determine how the annotations included in a 3D XML document are displayed.

The current display state is kept at the end of the review and stored in Preferences files:

C:\Documents and
Settings\user\Application Data\DassaultSystemes\CATSettings\CATTPSNavAddin.CATPreferences

Important: You can review 3D XML documents generated from the following releases:
  • All CATIA V5 releases since R17 SP5.
  • All CATIA V6 releases.


Before you begin: Open a product containing a 3D shape with annotations.

About Annotations Display
  1. Click anywhere in the work area to ensure that no annotation is selected.

    The annotations are no longer selected.

  2. Select the annotation set in the tree.
    A context toolbar appears.
    Tip:

    You can hide all annotations of an annotation set by right-clicking it and selecting Hide in 3D.

  3. Click Disables the display of selected elements .
    3D annotations are removed from the 3D area and an additional yellow mask is added to the tree icon representing this annotation set.

  4. Click Enables the display of selected elements .
    3D annotations reappear in 3D area.
    Tip: To show all annotations of an annotation set, right-click the annotation set and select Show in 3D.
  5. Click anywhere in the work area to ensure that no annotation is selected.

    The annotations are no longer selected.

  6. Select the B datum.

    The datum-related geometry is highlighted in the 3D area.
  7. Select the surface as shown.

    The 3D annotations are highlighted in the work area.
  8. Select the tolerances as shown.

    This highlights the related geometries and 3D annotation associated with.
  9. Select the B datum as shown.

    A context toolbar appears.
  10. Click Disables the display of selected elements .

    The datum is hidden in 3D area and also in the tree:
