Editing Document Library, Document Family, and Document Properties

You can edit the properties for a document or document sheet if you own the document.

Required access roles:

  • Baseline: Leader, Owner
  • App-specific: Librarian


Before you begin: View the properties page for the document or document sheet. See Document Properties.
  1. Click Edit Details from the page Actions menu or page toolbar. The edit dialog shows the same fields as the create dialog for that object.
  2. Edit any of these fields as required:

    Field Name Description
    Title The object's title.
    Description Details about the object.
    Owner The person who is responsible for the object.
    Created On The date the document family was created. The Originated field shows the system date when the document family was created; the Created On date shows the value entered in this field.
    Approver The person who approves the object.

    The following fields only show when editing properties for a generic document or document sheet. Other types of documents may show different fields.

    Field Name Description
    Checkin Reason Why the most recent version of the document was checked in.
    Design Group Owner If specified, the user responsible for the design group.
    Designated User The person who will primarily be using the document sheet.
    Language The language the document is written in.
    Release Type Design Release or Production Release, or a custom release.

  3. Click Done.
