Collaborative Lifecycle

The Collaborative Lifecycle app provides commands to manage the objects' lifecycle and collaboration (concurrent access to objects).

Collaborative Lifecycle provides the following key capabilities to manage the lifecycle of objects from creation to deletion:

  • Creating revisions, branches, and duplicates of objects
  • Changing the maturity state of objects
  • Viewing and modifying object's attributes
  • Viewing the iterations of an object, and restoring one of them
  • Comparing objects
  • Deleting objects
To collaborate with others, you can also:
  • Share objects with other people
  • Change the owner of an object, and move it to another collaborative space or organization
  • Manage the editability of objects, lock them or unlock them

After performing Lifecycle and Collaboration-related commands, you can resume authoring or navigation activities by switching to the previous app or to another app using the Compass.

You can access to the Collaborative Lifecycle app from tabs opened with most apps including:

  • Product Finder
  • Product Structure Design
  • System Finder
  • Functional & Logical Design
  • Bookmark

Collaborative Lifecycle commands are available either in the action bar, or under the Me, Add, Share, and Home menus.

Important: Your visibility on a structure varies depending on your credentials (access role, organization, and collaborative space). As the authoring commands rely on the content you are able to see:
  • If you have visibility on the complete assembly, the authoring commands are performed on the complete assembly.
  • If you have partial visibility on the assembly, the authoring commands are performed partially on the assembly.
Note: Access to commands from apps can easily be tailored to your needs going through the Me > Preferences > Customize menu. For example, you can add frequently used commands from the Collaborative Lifecycle app to the action bar of another app, such as Drafting.
