Creating a Minor Revision

You can capture a particular minor derivation of an object during its lifecycle. The New Minor Revision command is similar to the New Revision command.

Recommendation: Do not create minor revisions.

Before you begin:
  • You can create minor revisions from any revision or minor revision of an object that already has a minor revision ID.
  • Select all connected objects together to duplicate the connections and move them to the new objects. Otherwise, the new objects will remain connected to the initial object.
  1. From the Compass, click Collaborative Lifecycle.
  2. Select the objects you want to revise and click the command.
The New Minor Revision dialog box appears.

When you create a new minor revision, a part is a separate entity from its reusable representations (such as 3DShape) and therefore they need to be revised separately.

If you selected several objects, all the content to be revised is displayed as well as all required content automatically added to the scope (for example Representation of a 3DPart).

The Applicability date field is optional. You can enter a date to indicate the validity of this revision in the Applicability date box by clicking the calendar. The value you enter is only used for information purposes. The Applicability date box may not be displayed depending on your setup; it is shown only when the Applicability date attribute is shown in the Search Results.

  3. Click OK to create the new minor revision.

Depending on the type of the initial tab, a new Navigation tab or a new Search Result appears with the new minor revisions. Multiple tabs can be displayed if unconnected objects were initially selected.

If the initial tab was an Authoring tab, no new tab appears with the new revisions.

    Warning:

    • When creating a minor revision from an authoring tab, the previous minor revision remains open. If you make changes, saving them overwrites the previous minor revision, or is refused.
    • Creating a new minor revision of an object can be done if:
      • the object belongs to the local site.
      • the latest revision of the object belongs to the local site.
      • the latest revision is in a maturity state that authorizes revising.
      • the object is "physical controlled" if generated from an EBOM Part.
