About the Offline Mode

The Offline mode enables you to work while disconnected from the system.

This page discusses:

Offline Licenses

You are granted a license by a license server, that can be extracted on a local machine for a given number of days.

Thus, if the offline license has been extracted and has not expired yet, an offline session can be restored when the license server is out of reach.

Offline Cache

The offline cache of a 3DEXPERIENCE version is not compatible with another different 3DEXPERIENCE version, either on Cloud and On Premises.

Important: When you install a new software version, you must delete the offline cache and regenerate a new one.

Saving Your Work

You can use the Save command when offline.

As you are working offline, when saving the modifications done on objects, you will also do a Local Save on your computer.

Important:
  • You will need to save your modifications again when returning online for them to be saved in the database.

Attributes ID

The IDs that are assigned to an object differ when saving it offline.

When saving an object while working offline, a default ID is created. When going back online, the ID changes since the save is then done in the database.

Offline

The behavior is the same as in previous releases. Objects are created with a temporary name. Offline Business Standard business logic, when applied, takes care of recomputing the name and any offline id that were propagated in default titles (reference or instance).

If an end user defines or modifies an object title during an offline session, renumbering is not applied to the modified title.

Propagated information other than "name", "title", "from object" are not reprocessed. If needed, the app may have to write its own logic but not use the Standard BL.

When working offline, some of the online logic cannot be applied, which may result in a safe save situation when going from Offline to Online.

Opening Offline Content

Offline Content can be opened by using the Open Offline Content command.

All tabs containing modified elements must be closed before opening Offline Content as they may be in a different state than the modified local content.

Updating Offline Content

Offline Content is created during an Online session by using the Add To Offline Content command.

Offline Content can be updated during an Online session by using the Synchronize Offline Content command.

The Synchronization is performed on the structures as they were when the Favorite was created. Before synchronizing Offline Content with recent structure modifications (such as additions, new revisions...) the Favorite content must be updated with said modifications.

You must open the Offline Content and save modifications before Synchronizing Offline Content.

Removing Offline Content

Offline Content remains available until the Remove From Offline Content command is used.

Deleting the Favorite element created for Offline work purposes does not remove the object from the Offline Content list.

Opened Tabs

Tabs remaining open when exiting Offline session are restored upon the start of a new Offline session.
