Cause Analysis Lifecycle

The lifecycle of a defect cause consists of two states.

This page discusses:

Identified

When you create a defect cause, it is in the Identified state. In this state, you can create child causes under the parent cause. You can also promote the defect cause to the Addressed state. If all primary child causes are promoted to the Addressed state, the parent cause is automatically promoted to the Addressed state. You can promote a parent cause to the addressed state even if its non-primary child causes are in the Identified state.

Addressed

In this state, if required, you can demote the parent defect cause and add new child causes. After you demote the parent cause, you can also demote the child causes.
