Configured Part Lifecycle

The Configured Part policy governs unresolved parts.

The Configured Part lifecycle includes the states described below. The lifecycle for configured parts is different from the lifecycle for unconfigured parts because of the way changes are typically handled. The revision and release process for unconfigured structures is often more complex than what is required to update configured structures. Configuration changes can typically be tracked using only the change-required process. Therefore, the configured structure itself always remains in the In Work state.

This page discusses:

In Work

All configured parts are in the In Work state when they are created.

Superseded

When a configured part is released, its previous revision is promoted to the Superseded state. All pending changes are removed from the previous revision.

Note: You cannot promote parts to the Superseded state in 3DEXPERIENCE R2016x or later versions of Configured BOM Management. However, parts in the Superseded state that are migrated from version earlier than 3DEXPERIENCE R2016x display as Superseded in this version.
