Internal Material Lifecycle

An Author, Leader, Compliance Engineer, or Senior Compliance Engineer can create Internal Materials. Internal Materials are internally-generated, as compared to External Materials that are imported from Suppliers.

Only the person who owns the Internal Material can modify it.

When promoting or demoting an Internal Material, the app shows a dialog box and you must enter a reason for the promotion or demotion. You can view the comments on the properties page for the Internal Material.

Development/In Work

Any user with the Author, Leader, Compliance Engineer, or Senior Compliance Engineer access role can create a Material. these users can configure the Internal Material with substances. An Author, Leader, Compliance Engineer, or Senior Compliance Engineer can connect the Internal Material to a Part as a Component Material.

When ready, the Author/Compliance Engineer can promote the Internal Material to the Review state.

Review/Frozen

Leader/Senior Compliance Engineer can connect the Internal Material to a Part as a Component Material.

Leader/Senior Compliance Engineer can approve the Internal material by promoting it to the Approved state, or reject the Internal Material by demoting it to the Internal Material to the Development state.

Approved/Released

When the Internal Material reaches the Approved state, it can be referenced by a Part or other Material.

When the Internal Material will no longer be used, the Leader/Senior Compliance Engineer can promote it to the Obsolete state.

Obsolete

The Internal Material can no longer be used, however, it can be revised and the new revision starts its lifecycle in the Development state.
