Export Control Classification Lifecycle

The Export Control Classification policy defines the lifecycle states for IP Control and Security Control classes.

Inactive

IP Control and Security Control classes are created in the Inactive state. They remain in this state so the hierarchy can be added to or changed. The Leader can promote the class to the Active state. The class must be promoted to the Active state before it can be used.

Active

The IP Control or Security Control class is available, and remains in this state as long as it is in use. The class is promoted to the Archived state when it is no longer used.

Archived

Activity is complete and the object is no longer available.
