Lot Lifecycle

Lots are used to batch a group of non-serialized parts.

These roles can create and manage lots:

  1. Field Technician
  2. Product Planners
  3. Manufacturing Planner
  4. Production Manager
  5. Product Managers

Only Product Planners and Product Managers are allowed to delete a lot once it is created. Lots can be deleted in the Create state only.

The Lot lifecycle includes these states:

This page discusses:

Create

The person who creates the lot is by default the owner of the lot, but can assign ownership to another user. Generally, a Production Manager creates lots and assigns them to a Field Technician, who is responsible for maintaining and servicing shipped builds. When a lot is created, its name can be specified or can be automatically generated by the system if Autoname is selected. Multiple lots can be created at the same time when using Autoname. A customer can also be defined for the lot. Reference documents can be attached.

Complete

Lots in the Complete state are generally in use. All roles who can create lots can promote and demote the lot in this state, except a lot cannot be demoted if its parent build is in the Complete state or beyond. Reference documents can be attached.

Obsolete

When the lot is promoted to the Obsolete state, it is no longer available for use.
