Model Lifecycle

A model is a collection of model versions, features, and requirements.

This page discusses:

Private

A Product Manager, System Engineer, or Leader can create a model.

A model is created in the Private state and is only visible to its Owner. In this state, the Owner can add it to a product line and add model versions to it. The Owner can modify it and promote it to the Marketing state. Only the model's Owner can delete it.

Marketing

In the Marketing state, the model is visible to all users with access to the collaborative space.

A Marketing Manager or Leader can add the marketing text and marketing name, then attach marketing images to the model. The Marketing Manager or Leader can promote the model to the Review state.

Review

In the Review state, the model is visible to all users with access to the collaborative space.

A Product Manager or Leader can review the model and its structure, and make any changes, before activating the model. The Product Manager or Leader then promotes the model to the Active state.

Active

In the Active state, the model is visible to all users with access to the collaborative space, the organization to which the model belongs, and any of its parent organizations. .

The model is visible and available to all users to order. The Owner or a Leader can revise it. When the company decides not to sell the model any longer, the Owner, Product Manager, or Leader promotes it to the Obsolete state

Obsolete

In the Obsolete state, the model is visible to all users with access to the collaborative space, the organization to which the model belongs, and any of its parent organizations.

In the Obsolete state, the model is considered "frozen" and is not available for sale. It can be revised, modified, or deleted only by the owner. If the company decides to sell the model again, the Owner can demote it to the Active state to make it available.
