Create
A Part Routing can be created using this policy, or by clicking Set To Production for a Part Routing that uses the Part Routing in Development policy and is in the Complete state. Work Centers and Reference Documents are created or added to the Part Routing. The Part Routing can be connected to the Part whose manufacture it defines. The Part Routing and its associated Work Centers must be added as proposed changes to the ECO. When the ECO is promoted to the Define Components state, the Part Routing is promoted to the Review state.
Review
When the ECO is promoted to the Design Work state, it creates a route based on a reviewer list (a route template). Each person is assigned a review task. Reference Documents and the Work Centers defined for the Part Routing should be evaluated for completeness and appropriateness. When all of the route tasks have been approved, the ECO is automatically promoted to the Review state and the Part Routing is promoted to the Approved state. The ECO creates a route based on an approver list (a route template). Each person is assigned an approval task.
Approved
When all tasks are approved, the ECO is promoted to the Released state. The ECO does not promote the Part Routing; the Manufacturing Engineer or the Senior Manufacturing Engineer must manually promote the Part Routing. All the Work Centers defined for the Part Routing must be promoted to the Release state before the Part Routing can be promoted from Approved to Released.
Released
When all connected Work Centers are in the Release state, the Part Routing can be promoted to the Release state. It is then used as the basis for manufacturing a Part.
Superseded
When a Part Routing needs to be revised, an ECO is used for this purpose. When the new revision reaches the Released state, the original Part Routing is automatically promoted to the Superseded state.
Obsolete
When a Part Routing is no longer valid and will not be revised, a Manufacturing Engineer or Senior Manufacturing Engineer can promote it to the Obsolete state.
