Qualification Lifecycle

This lifecycle controls how a Component Qualification Engineer qualifies a Supplier Equivalent Part or a Manufacturer Equivalent Part for a Part.

The Qualification lifecycle includes these states:

This page discusses:

In Process

A Qualification is created for a specific Part to associate another Part as a Supplier Equivalent Part (SEP) or a manufacturer Equivalent Part (MEP). In this state, any related documentation is attached to the Qualification. The Component Qualification Engineer either qualifies or disqualifies the part as an SEP or MEP (promotes to the Qualified or Disqualified state).

A Qualification for an SEP is associated with a specific Supplier, and may also be associated with a specific location for that Supplier.

A Qualification for an MEP is associated with a specific Manufacturer, and may also be associated with a specific location for that Manufacturer. The Qualification can be defined in the context of a BOM.

Disqualified

The Component Qualification Engineer determined that this Part does not meet the qualifications to be an SEP or MEP for the original Part. If the reason the Part could not be qualified is resolved, the Qualification can be promoted to the Qualified state.

Qualified

The Component Qualification Engineer determined that this Part meets the qualifications to be an SEP or MEP for the original Part. When ready, the Component Qualification Engineer promotes the Qualification to the Approved State.

Approved

The Part is qualified as an SEP or MEP for the original Part. In this state, the Component Qualification Engineer can promote the Qualification to Frozen.

Frozen

The Qualification is complete and no further actions can be taken.
