Working with Datum Targets

Datum Target lets you create a simple datum target or a movable datum target. You can also convert a non-movable datum target into a movable one.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Open a drawing representation with geometrical elements.

Create a Datum Target

  1. Select an attachment point for the datum target leader.
  2. Select a location for positioning the datum target (anchor point).
  3. Enter values in the Area Size and Associated Datum boxes.
  4. Click in the dialog box or click in the sheet.
    The datum target is created.

Convert a Non-movable Datum Target into a Movable Datum Target

  1. Select the datum target.
  2. Select the red handle.
    The datum target is instantly changed to a movable datum target.

Create an Offset between the Anchor Point and the First Point of the Leader

  1. Select the datum target.
  2. Drag to the required length.

    You can also drag the white handle to create an offset.

Position a Datum Target on an Existing Annotation

Before you begin: Create a datum target.
  1. Click Datum Target .
  2. Click in the sheet to define the leader anchor point.
  3. Move the pointer over the reference datum target.
  4. Select an attachment point to position the datum target.
  5. Enter values in the Area Size and Associated Datum boxes.
  6. Click in the dialog box or click in the sheet.
    The datum target is created.
  7. Optional: Drag the datum target to change it's position.
    The datum target is snapped to the selected position and the attachment point is modified.
