Creating Chamfer Dimensions

Chamfer Dimensions lets you create a chamfer dimension.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Open a drawing representation containing at least one chamfer.

Create Chamfer Dimensions Manually

Before you begin: Go to Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > Drafting > Dimension section, and clear the Detect chamfer check box.
  1. In the Tools Palette, select from the following:

    Dimension FormatRepresentation Mode
    Length x LengthOne symbol
    Length x AngleTwo symbols
    Angle x Length
    Length

  2. Select the Length x Length format and the One symbol mode .
  3. Select the element to be dimensioned.
  4. Select a reference line or surface.
  5. Perform any one of the following:
    • Click in the sheet to create the dimension.
    • Select a second reference line or surface.
    The dimension is associated with all the selected elements.

Create Chamfer Dimensions Using Chamfer Detection

Before you begin: Select the Detect chamfer check box.
  1. Click Chamfer Dimensions .
  2. Select the Length x Length format and the One symbol mode .
  3. Hover over the element to be dimensioned.
    • 1: Element to be dimensioned.
    • 2: First reference line.
    • 3: Second reference line.
  4. Click when you are satisfied with the order shown by the auto-detection.
  5. Click in the sheet to position the chamfer dimension.
    The dimension is associated to all the auto-detected elements.
