Querying Annotation Links

You can query the annotation links with Query Object Links, available in the context menu of all the annotations containing links.

This command displays the Query Link dialog box showing all the links of the selected objects.

The following columns are displayed in the dialog box, providing specific information about the links:

  • Link type: Shows the type of the link between the object and the corresponding reference. The following types are possible:
    • Positional link
    • Positional link on leader
    • Orientation link
    • Orientation link on leader
    • Instantiated link template
    • Attribute link
    • Attribute display
    • Parameter link
    • Welding link
    • Global link
    • Context link
  • Value: Shows the value assigned to the annotation after resolving the link.
    • Instantiated link template
    • Attribute link
    • Content link
    • Global link
    • Attribute displays

For other types of link, this column remains empty.

  • Linked to: Represents the linked object. It can be “No link” if the attribute is inserted without any link.

If the object is not found in a session, it shows one of the following statuses:

    • Not loaded
    • Broken
    • Isolated

  • In: Shows the PLM component containing the pointed object displayed in the column Linked to. It is shown only if the link is external and can be resolved. Otherwise this column is empty.
  • Queried annotation: Shows the annotation(s) on which the query is performed. If only one annotation is queried, this column is not displayed in the dialog box.

Re-frame the work area check box: When you select this check box and select a link in the Query Link dialog box, focuses and highlights the annotation and its linked object.

However, the annotation and its linked object are highlighted only if they exist in the active representation. If none of these objects exist in the same representation, they are not highlighted.

Similarly, the annotation and its linked object are focused only if they exist in the active representation and in the current sheet. If none of these objects exist in the same representation and in the same sheet, they are not focused.

The dialog box has the capability of sorting the contents based on any column.

The columns which are empty are hidden automatically. To manage the columns, right-click a column and select Hide column, Show all columns, or Show column. These preferences are saved for next time usages.

Cross-highlight is supported for the attributes linked to PLM entities and the attributes linked to parameters. In the queried annotation, the sub-string which contains the selected link is temporarily colored in blue .
