About Defining a Sheet: Sheet Browser

This topic explains the concepts that you need to understand to define a sheet either using the sheet styles defined by the administrator or by creating your own sheet styles (to add specific formats).

Administration

Standards and sheet styles are defined by the administrator, who can also add unlimited styles in the Standards Editor. Once created, this standard appears in the Drawing / Representation DS dialog box. Note that any customized standard is based on one of the four international standards (ANSI, ISO, ASME, or JIS) as far as basic parameters are concerned.
Note:

Make sure you customize the units accordingly from Me > Preferences > Main Preferences > Modeling section, under Knowledge Units, specify the Length to Inch and then click OK.

User-Defined Sheet Formats

  • You can create your own sheet formats, define them locally for a given drawing, through the sheet properties.
  • The global scale is a scaling factor that applies to all views in a given sheet. It does not determine the position of the views (or any other object) contained in the sheet. When the grid is displayed, the position of the view in the sheet is not determined by the grid, it only deals with what is drawn directly in the sheet.
  • The modification of the sheet scale property impacts only the design views.
  • At any time after defining a sheet, you can change the standard (which you can update), sheet style, or orientation. To do this, click Page Layout from the View Layout section of the action bar, to display the Page Layout dialog box.
  • You can also change the standard and the sheet properties in the Properties dialog box. To do this, right-click the sheet, and select Properties.
  • If you select a new standard, the value in the Apply to box becomes All sheets and the new standard is applied to all drawing sheet annotations.

Naming Uniqueness

The sheet name uniqueness can be verified during creation and edition by selecting the appropriate check box in Me > Preferences.

Select Ensure uniqueness of sheet names check box from Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > Drafting > Administration section, under Naming Uniqueness
